Hyaluronic acid

Soft tissue fillers may  be used alone or in combination with other aesthetic procedures to correct wrinkles and increase volume or to repair tissue damage caused by aging, lipoatrophy, or other causes.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural glycosaminoglycan which is an essential component of the extracellular matrix of the skin. This molecule plays an important role in the maintenance of skin structure and function, due to its high water binding capacity. Just like a sponge, its primary function is to bind and to absorb water, thereby creating more volume in the facial tissue. For instance, hyaluronic acid can be used as an internal moisturizer for the body. But, as your age increases, the tissue content of hyaluronic acid decreases. This leads to a significant increase of lines and wrinkles. The injectable gel corrects this effect by  restoring the normal content of hyaluronic acid in the skin.

A combination therapy  between hyaluronic acid (or other fillers) and Botox can increase the duration of the effect, particularly in case of glabellar lines (frown lines).

During the treatment, the gel is  injected into the skin in very small amounts using a fine needle. The injection is not painful and you might only experience a slight sensation of discomfort. The whole procedure is very simple and takes only  a few minutes.

The treatment requires no recovery  time and you can return to your regular activities immediately afterwards. The gel produces expansion in wrinkles and your skin will become smoother. If used for lip augmentation or shaping facial contours, hyaluronic acid brings more volume and shape to the treated area. If you experience any  local swelling and redness, they  will completely disappear within a few hours.

After the procedure you will notice long lasting results (typically between 9 and 12 months).
